Hi, we’re Renate – nice to be (re)introduced to you!

The past two years have been a rollercoaster, but we’re still here! After receiving our extended lease in mid-December 2025, we have a new motivation to make the most of this opportunity. Let’s get acquainted with each other again.

What happened? Is Renate closed? Is Renate back?
In mid-2025 we were able to restart negotiations to keep Renate going, greatly supported by Franziska Giffey, Senator for Economic Affairs, Energy and Public Enterprises. Her legal support and guidance set the foundation for us to share our story, to get into the right rooms and help us navigate some of our hardest times.

After months of uncertainty, the foundations for a new collaboration were laid and on December 15 – approximately two weeks before the end of our lease – we received a new rental contract for another 10 years, accompanied by the establishment of a new operating company and structural realignment of the club.
Following this happy news, we decided to finish the year, then take a big breath of relief and but then take a pause. We had ceased most operations and decided to take some time to reflect, renovate and dream up what would happen next.

A short pause turned into a soft-reopening in January, where the club was partially open on weekends and then in full renovation mode during the week. Three months later in April, we were able to reopen for real and finally celebrate the whirlwind of hard work, relief and excitement that got us to a new chapter we didn’t think would happen.

We would not have got here without everyone who supported our fight. We cannot thank Franiska Giffey and her office enough for the meaningful and tireless support. Our own team who kept showing up for us through the challenges gave us motivation to keep trying and the dream of what we could do inspired us to invest this opportunity into something even bigger.

This relaunch is a clear commitment to further develop Renate as a cultural venue, employer, and part of Berlin's club scene in a sustainable way, with respect for all involved.

Being a part of Berlin’s iconic nightlife history is a badge we wear with pride. But legacy is not all we want to be. We want to use our position and this opportunity we have been given to carve out a brighter future for us all.

Renate forever! We’re here for a long time. We’re here for a good time.
After we secured our new lease, we took the time to gather ourselves and ask “what will our future look like?” and we decided that the future is you! We invested in our space, our community, our team and the original dream of Renate.

We spent the winter months renovating the green floor; there’s a new sound system, more room for you to dance and a performance stage to incorporate more spectacle to our parties.

We welcomed new team members – the next generation of club workers who are eager to continue the legacy of this institution with pride. We pay respect to the work that came before us and our newest team members are excited by the challenge and privilege that comes with trying something new with something so special. That’s part of the fun, right?

There’s always a room for you at Renate!

Part of our charm is that we truly welcome you as you are. We know that many of you explored your first clubbing experiences with us, we were maybe the first club you got into when you visited Berlin or where you got a chance to play behind the booth at last.

We wear that badge with pride as we commit to this new future. Our booking team is new and inspired to present the full spectrum of dance music, but most importantly: proud to invest in local talent and people working hard to give a new sound or experience to Berlin.

We have welcomed so many new people to our world these past months and have even more to come –collective takeovers by community driven crews and labels, special “DJ curates” style nights presented by local favourite DJs, new Queer parties, parties by people from less represented backgrounds and much, much more!

Renate has a reputation for being a bit silly, campy and let’s say glamourous in that old school Berlin fashion. Let’s bring that to a new generation together!

After all: who is the next big thing if we do not support the people working hard right now? What will be your new favourite party if there is no space to try something new?
We have 10 wonderful years ahead of us and we intend to make them matter.
Our call to you is: Support your local. Support what’s next. We can protect club culture and ensure its future if we support those putting in the work!

Garten für alle!

Alongside our club program, the Renate Garden is a community space, open on Fridays from 4pm and Saturdays from 2pm. The programme is varied, ranging from concerts to workshops and open airs.

We want to share our spaces and make them accessible to everyone, continuing to contribute to a vibrant urban culture. It is important to us to see the garden as a space for experimentation, community, and the neighbourhood -- entry is free to our Renate Open airs and any other events will be kept low cost.

There will always be great music, food and drinks but you can also just come as you are and spend some time in the sun with us.
Bring your dog! Bring your family! You are all welcome in our garden.

We are also open to hearing what YOU want from our space. Do you have an idea to bring people together during the week? Are you looking for a gorgeous garden with food and drinks to host your community? Give us a message. We look forward to your ideas!

Want to be part of the fun?
Keep in touch with us via our website and social media, but coming to the club is even better!

We guarantee that if you are a long-time lover of Renate, you’ll enjoy that classic experience in a new way.

If you are new to us or haven’t been in a while – even better! We think you will be pleasantly surprised at how this old Diva has changed for the times.

We’ve saved a space just for you, so come on by! We’ll be here waiting here to greet you with a smile and a good time. Club culture is serious to us, but it’s also not that deep.

Keep it wild. Keep it fun. Keep it Renate

In Renate we Trust.
